Those Are The Rules

The other day Luke was explaining some elaborate new rules for one of his games to his grandfather, who looked a bit confused.

Luke looked sympathetic. "Those are the rules!" he said, holding his hands palms up in front of him in an exaggerated gesture of disbelief. "I don't know why they make 'em like that, but they do."

"Luke," I said. "Didn't you make up those rules?"

Luke turned to me and smiled. "Yup," he said.
