Search for the Fairy Door

Yesterday the bigger kids and I went in search of the fairy door rumoured to have been discovered in the neighbourhood. Along the way we discovered this secret passage between two streets.

 

We thought we might find it around this hobbit-y house but no luck.

Here we're examining the base of this palm tree for any evidence of tiny doors. Still no luck!

 

This looked like a possibility. We weren't sure, though.

Et voila! Here it is! We knocked on the door but no one answered. We figured the fairies might have been sleeping. We had to remind ourselves not to smash down the door in order to see inside, as we certainly wouldn't like that if someone did that to our front door. Instead we went straight home and wrote the fairies a letter.

Maybe there's already one in your neighbourhood, LD. That one was just down the street from us. We finally found it when we asked a teenage boy if he'd ever seen it... He knew all about it, which was pretty cute.

I just heard about a little door in a tree in a house in Victoria. Apparently there are little fairies living behind it - or at least little figures that mysteriously move around overnight!
