"I
have always been a stay at home mom and one day someone asked me what
my hobbies were. It left me stumped. My hobby was my kids, soccer,
swimming whatever they wanted. So I set myself on a mission to find my
passion," says Wanda. Below she tells the story of how she became a Mompreneur and how Nummylicious was born.
"One day after trying many different crafts and anything
artistic I could find, I was on Facebook and found Carina’s Cupcakes.
Carina was a spunky cupcake lady from the UK and I followed her from her
first 1000 likes. She is up past 40k likes now. Very cool woman. I then
begin to slowly add to my collection of cakery tools. The first cake I
ever did was the beach themed cake. I remember the excitement of
searching at Michaels and finding the shell molds. For couple of years I
studied anything I could find. Youtube tutorials, books, internet
blogs. This is how I learned. I loved it and when I moved back to NS
and got my life in order I decided to pursue it full time.
I
love what I do, I love meeting with couples and planning their wedding
cake, I love seeing their expression when they taste my products for the
first time and I love even more the smiles on someone’s face when they
see my creation, that’s why customized cakes are so cool.
Nummylicious
is proud of the quality ingredients we use. The cocoa is my own blend
of superior cocoas I sourced from around the world. I tried many
different brands before I found the perfect chocolate to use. My friends
loved visiting because I always valued their opinion and they were my
taste testers. Even now my oldest is the best tester I have and if it
doesn’t pass her highly evolved palette I don’t use it."

I
began creating taggie blankets, taggie toys, bibs and blankets as I saw
how often we were using these with my daughter who is now 16 months
old. From there, I began to make them often to give away as I realized
that they would make great shower gifts for family and friends.
At a friend’s recent suggestion, I have decided to start a home-based business selling these quality handmade sewing projects to share with other families as well! It seems like a good fit for my family as I will be able to supplement my income, especially considering I will start a second maternity leave in July! Without hesitation I knew that I had to name this business, “baby B handmade.” My husband and I had begun to lovingly refer to our baby as “Baby B” while in utero– short for “Bishop.” This quickly caught on with our family and friends, and has continued through our current pregnancy.
These items are great for sensory and tactile development, nevermind that they are oh so snuggly, too! I use different colours, patterns, shapes, and sizes to make unique items with baby in mind.
