Aww, I remember those days fondly! Here's a tip from someone whose kid probably went through 6 pairs of glittery "ruby red slippers" from Target before the phase ran its course: coat the shoes with clear nail polish or other clear lacquer. Not only will that prevent the incessant shedding of red glitter all over your house, it will also protect the shoes from going glitter-bare on the toes after prolonged playground sessions. :)
